The Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices or IKSPs refers to the set of knowledge, belief system, mechanisms, skills and technologies, moral and ethical codes, and philosophy that embodies the patterns of relationships between and among people and the environment. Recent studies suggest that IKSPs could have a great impact in combating the effects of climate change in terms of climate adaptation and environmental sustainability as it is context-specific and responsive to the needs of the local communities. IKSPs emphasizes spiritual significance of nature and higher value of the ecology to humans.
On the other hand, Western Environmental Worldview places the highest value on the human benefit of political, social, financial, etc., decisions regarding environmental impact.
